It fell to Dr. Frances E. Falvey to provide the strong leadership the school needed in fulfilling its mission. Mrs. Craddock. explained how such a tiny school as Seven Hills School was able to snag such an accomplished professional as Dr. Falvey:
Dr. Falvey had been the dean of Milwaukee-Downer college which was taken over by Lawrence College in 1964. With this take over, Dr. Falvey found herself out of a job. She had submitted her resume to Randolph-Macon Woman's College. There was nothing open at the time for Dr. Falvey, but Mr. William Quillian Jr., then president of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, knew that Seven Hills School was searching for a headmistress. He called Mrs. Craddock and told her about this wonderful candidate. Mrs. Craddock went into action immediately and persuaded Dr. Falvey to come to Lynchburg and talk about the position. Dr. Falvey stayed with the Craddocks and before she returned to Milwaukee, she had agreed to accept the position of headmistress at Seven Hills School. This was quite a coup for the Board. | ||
